Cyberbullying Workshop Scheduled for October 11
CHARACTERplus, an initiative of Cooperating School Districts, is one of the recipients of United Way’s Community Investment One-Time Peer-Harassment grant. As part of the CHARACTERplus Advanced Training Series, the $3000 United Way grant will be used to help fund the “Confronting Cyberbullying” workshop on October 11.
The workshop will bring educators, as well as middle and high
school students together to focus on: the forms and impact of
electronic harassment; ways to intervene, respond and stop
cyberbullying; and school policies that work.
The "Confronting Cyberbullying" workshop will provide the resources
student-empowered teams need to define cyberbullying as it exists
in their world and develop action plans, from student awareness to
school policies. Among the presenters will be Glenn Berry, director
of Missouri’s Center for Safe Schools, and Ceylinda Brasher, an
attorney specializing in school law. The October 11 workshop will
be held at the Maritz Corporate Theater, 1400 South Highway Drive
in Fenton, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
CHARACTERplus is designed to address issues related to student character, responsibility, and academic achievement. CHARACTERplus provides training, resources, and leadership to help parents and schools accomplish one of their most important jobs – the character development of the next generation. CHARACTERplus was founded in 1988 as a project of CSD.
