Clayton High School Teacher Honored With National Educator Award

The Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, Inc. (CSD) congratulates Clayton High School math teacher Curtis James.  James was recently named the recipient of the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award.

Along with receiving a $25,000 cash prize award, James was recognized during an all-school assembly by Richard Sandler, executive vice-president of the Milken Family Foundation and Missouri Governor Matt Blunt.  The Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award gives recognition and financial awards to teachers, principals and specialists who demonstrate excellence in education.

For 10 years, James has taught mathematics at Clayton High School and is chair of the math department.  His colleagues describe him as a high-energy teacher who is able to connect with students of all backgrounds to teach mathematics.  He is past president of the Mathematics Educators of Greater St. Louis and has been named as that group’s “Teacher of the Year.”
