CSD Creates New Partnership With Harris-Stowe
Harris-Stowe State University (HSSU) and Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, Inc. (CSD) are pleased to announce a new partnership that will benefit educators throughout the region.
HSSU will partner with the St. Louis Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC), which is operated by CSD and provides professional development programs to more than 25,000 local teachers each year.
In this partnership, CSD/RPDC and HSSU will combine resources to ensure that teachers in the metropolitan area have access to activities that improve teaching and learning in their classrooms. Potential benefits include collaboration on regional institutes and programs and the opportunity to convene educators with diverse needs to address common issues.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to partner with Harris-Stowe,” said Dr. John Urkevich, CSD’s executive director. “The perspectives and knowledge that their staff can provide will benefit our employees as well as teachers in our region.”
“Harris-Stowe has a long history of training and working with teachers in this area. It is what we were founded on,” said Dr. Henry Givens Jr., president of Harris-Stowe. “Any partnership that allows us to be involved with improving the quality of educators for our youth is something that we must do.”
The partnership provides the opportunity for the organizations to work together in securing grants for professional development programs, the chance for HSSU students and staff to take part in innovative professional development activities and the opportunity for CSD/RPDC staff to further their understanding of the needs of urban educators by working with HSSU staff.
