Show-Me a Movie Contest Breaks Record With 160 Entries

Student winners honored at Midwest Education Technology Conference (METC) February 8-10

The 2009-2010 Show-Me a Movie Contest is going down in history due to a record number of entries.  More than 160 entries were submitted by students in St. Louis and from around the state.

The Show-Me a Movie Contest is an annual event sponsored by the Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis, Inc. (CSD).  The contest gives K-12 students from around the state the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and moviemaking skills.  Based on curriculum and with a content focus, the videos showcase what students know, care about, and are able to do in four different categories:

  • Show-Me Something New: An instructional or how-to movie.
  • Show-Me a Story: A story about someone special, a school, or community.
  • Show-Me a Challenge: Local environmental concerns and social issues, which promote awareness and public action.
  • Show-Me Your Community: An aspect of community/ethnic culture that is unique, significant, promotes a message, and advances a better understanding.

The movies are judged on quality of content, creativity, storyboarding, videography and reflection.

The Show-Me a Movie Contest has been in existence since 2004.   Winners receive a cash prize of $300 for their schools, and students, teachers, and parents are invited to attend the Show Me a Movie Contest winners' reception on February 9 at the St. Charles Convention Center as part of the Midwest Education Technology Conference (METC).
